The crane

This summer I've had the luck to be introduced with Japanese culture. An interesting experience it was and still keeps on being since there are many aspects of their tradition to be explored. Some other time I'll write about zen, samurai, seppuku and much more, this time I just wanted to show the beauty of origami. I've learnt how to make different animals and things, but one is more special than the others.

The crane.
Here you have a wikipedia article explain it much better than I would:
"Throughout Asia, the crane is a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. In Japan, the crane is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and thetortoise) and symbolizes good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years. The crane is a favourite subject of the tradition of origami or paper folding. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. After World War II, the crane came to symbolize peace and the innocent victims of war through the story of schoolgirl Sadako Sasaki and her thousand origami cranes. Suffering from leukemia as a result of theatomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasakiand knowing she was dying, she undertook to make a thousand origami cranes before her death at the age of 12. After her death, she became internationally recognised as a symbol of the innocent victims of war and remains a heroine to many Japanese girls."

I like the symbolics behind it, so I decided to present my loving ones with it. Here are some pictures.

Illness

Before I get to the main topic of my post, I thought it would be good just to declare that I belong to no culture, sub-culture and I'm not being influenced neither am I trying to influence anyone's change of beliefs, political, religious or any others. This ofcourse goes only to the internet, I guess only place where it is possible to be that way. This shall be mentioned later again, but right now I need to describe an illness.

Be aware and be concerned, it will get to you, just like it got to me! Uninvited, unexpected illness that has found its way to me sitting in front of my computer. I tried to fight it back, but it has its assistants. Their assistants do not get payed, they are not even aware they work for her. They are simply diseased. Anyways, this illness I'm talking about has many different names. I shall not name it, I'll leave that you. I will describe its symptoms, tell you how to recognize it and hopefully give you good advices in order to help you defeat it.

Have you seen these illiterate, uneducated, closed-minded people? Ofcourse you did, they are everywhere. Not only because there are so many of them (naturally, they outnumber their opposites), but because they want to be eveywhere. Being curious about your life, they'll come and rant about their own. Sadly, the majority is called the society. That very society wants you to live your life as they wish. You don't even want to play their game, but their lives are miserable enough for them to be willing to force you to. You say no, they call you an outcast. You say you love being an outcast, they'll tell you that you don't. You say yes and now they say no. I started with an example just to remind you how our society often works, now I'll continue on describing the symptoms.

People are born as naturally curious. That's why our knowledge about world is growing every day. More books, more scientific discoveries, more new gadgets are all ways of showing that people always had and always will be curious. That's probably one of are best characteristics. The strength of our society lies within it, but also our weakness. You'll understand why it's a weakness only if you've ever been sad for reasons beyond simple human interactions. Some people never let curiosity mess with their lives and their ignorance grows bigger every day. They are the viruses who spread the disease. This disease tries to take over you by telling you what to do, how to act, what to eat, drink, wear and not only does it do that, but it also curses you for not being "normal". You may regocnize these people immediately by the lack of eloquence, that's probably the easiest way to do it and a certain one (unless they're shy...argh, worse exceptions than in spelling english words).

Today I feel abnormal (well, not much less than any other day) and this thingy was coming closer and closer. Cure for such illness is not to be found anywhere else but in books. Loving books full of new ideas. Lots of ideas lead to new ideas. Ideas lead to being busy about ideas and not being able to mess with other people lives (and their own ideas). All hail ideas!

Introductory post

Quite often being willing to engage in such a discussion where I would be able to show off my intellectual wittines and use a lot a profane language - I decided to start a blog. Since I am not always able to argue with my geekmates, either because one of us is just doing their stuff or because we get so awkward we forget how to pronounce words correctly, the only way to vent out was to have my own blog. And no, the number of people I can contemplate with about universe is not large, in fact it is quite small. Mostly depending on your personal life perspective, what I just said will leave you knowing one more thing about me. I can not tell what kind of conclusions you will make, but here is what I want you to know. I am an intovert. Screw all the definitions, much appreciated Mr.Jung and all other psychologists who claim to know better than you and me or internet. Lets make it simple. I can entertain myself, be alone and not get lonely, yet be in a crowd and feel all alone. I am not comfortable with your disrespect toward my personal space boundaries, but that is only if we have just met or if you stink really bad. I do not like to define things, but I like to make them a bit more clear for those who are willing to listen/read. Introverts like to get lost and so do I. I have my havens I visit all the time in order to keep my sane look for the public. This is also going to be one of them, where I will try to explain things that are on my mind. I also plan on posting completely random things happening to me and just some stuff I might find interesting.

Enjoy yourselves.
